Gui Freezing

Post by LauraD »

Hello, I was wondering if anyone else is having a similar issue.
I updated my computer to macOS Catalina version 10.15.7 on a macbook pro (2016) and I have successfully gotten my mod files compiled and everything ready to go. Every time I open the gui, it will work for a few minutes and then freeze and become unresponsive.
Any advice? Thinking I may have to reinstall but would love to avoid that if possible.

I would re-install software from xquartz.org. (After installing, logout and log back in).
If that does not fix the issue,
it may be a good idea to update the xcode command line tools and redo your mod files with nrnivmodl after removing the x86_64 folder.
WIth regard to updating the xcode command line tools see
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/425 ... line-tools
If you do that, I'd be interested in the result you got for

Code: Select all

softwareupdate --list

I have the same problem with XQuartz on Big Sur now. Did you find a solution?

Hello LauraD, watersun,

Could you tell us which version of NEURON you are using? You can try with the latest version, see instruction here: https://github.com/neuronsimulator/nrn/ ... stribution (Make sure to remove existing / old installation if any)

We haven't see any issues so difficult to have suggestions. But if issue persists then we can take this offline.

I don't experience anymore problems with NEURON 7.8.2 and XQuartz 2.8.0 on Big Sur 11.2.3
