Install problems 7.3 on osx 10.7

Post by huguenard »

Hi all

I'm teaching a course using neuron and most of the students have gotten nrn 7.3 installed after doing the quartzx python 7.3 logout login dance. However we are still having trouble on some osx machines.

One of my students reports:
"I'm still having trouble installing Neuron. I have Mac OS X 10.8.3 (12D78), aka Mountain Lion. I have downloaded the command line tools, python ("Python 2.7.3 Mac OS X 64-bit/32-bit x86-64/i386 Installer (for Mac OS X 10.6 and later [2])"),
XQuartz-2.7.4.dmg (twice), and Neuron (twice). I've opened the required Neuron files manually. I've restarted my computer.

I still get this error (in a terminal window that pops up) when I try to run the gui:
"-e
NEURON -- Release 7.3 (841:8bd842aaf0ab) 8bd842aaf0ab
Duke, Yale, and the BlueBrain Project -- Copyright 1984-2013

Any clues as to what is going wrong?

Thanks in advance
John
