This is a second polling question on the issue of what to do about section numbers
and cross-references in the NEURON book. For background details, see the thread
Section numbers and cross-references in the NEURON book

If we do adopt a section numbering strategy, how should this affect cross-references?

The options are

1. Preserve substantive content, e.g.
see The NEURON block in Example 9.6: extracellular potassium accumulation
becomes
see 9.7.1 The NEURON block in 9.7 Example 9.6: extracellular potassium accumulation

2. Preserve only the section numbers, e.g.
see The NEURON block in Example 9.6: extracellular potassium accumulation
becomes
see Section 9.7.1

3. Preserve substantive content but abandon section numbers, which are
cumbersome intrusions marked by oddities (e.g. Example 9.6 is section 9.7!)
that subtract value rather than adding it.
