Alternate Solution

I've found an alternate matlab approach that works although again it has it's own issues. !C:\nrn60\bin\nrniv.exe -nogui runstim2.hoc & This code works and the & symbol stops matlab from being busy. The files that I save at the end of the simulation, and notably the first one that I save after the r...

Neuron from Matlab dos command

I'm trying to call a hoc file from matlab in windows xp, although the code I have isn't working. dos('C:\nrn60\bin\nrniv.exe -nogui runstim2.hoc') The code works fine (outputs show up in Matlab and files are created, a printf statement in the hoc code indicates running until the end of the code) but...

Just to clarify a few points. You mean the fh.mod that is included with the MSWin distribution of NEURON? Yes, the fh.mod that is included with the MSWin distribution of NEURON Does it simply mean that temp sensitivity was customarily ignored in most--or even all--computational implementations of th...

FH model provided in examples Q10 discrepancy

I just started working with Neuron and I had a question regarding the fh.mod file that is provided in the examples folder. I am working with external stimulation and thresholds, and thus an article of interest to me is one by Rattay and Aberham (1993, Modeling Axon Membranes for Functional Electrica...

Here are some of the code lines I modified, as well as an added explanation at the bottom which helped me understand better what was going on objref templist //sr not needed newseclist = new SectionList() //I got an error without "new" on MSwindows //Without "=" in ">=" one section was being dropped...

Great. I think I got it figured out. Just to clarify a few things that I was confused on. For an unmyelinated model, or a myelinated model with only one layer and changing sections of myelin and nodes, the only variable that needs to be set is e_extracellular. The rest of the variables are such that...

Thanks. I am most familiar with extracellular stimulations in terms of ultimately inserting a Istim into the dV/dt equation (dV/dt = [-Iions+Istim]/c. This Istim typically varies along the segments, and with time. I thought perhaps the "extracellular" mechanism was the best way to accomplish this, a...

Extracellular Stimulation Basics

I am a bit confused on the extracellular mechanism and after much searching I think clarification of a few questions would help greatly on moving forward. 1) Does e_extracellular need to be set for each segment, or does it act on the entire section? Based on another thread I gather it is for each se...

load_proc and run() command in oc

I am using Neuron 5.9.10 and trying to get the run() command to work. Based on the Neuron Programming Tutorial #1 from neuron.duke.edu I am under the impression that I need to load the standard run library, to access this command. Inserting load_proc("nrnmainmenu") into my file to accomplish this, o...
