Re: (1/1+Boltzmann)^4 parameters: a secret decoder ring?

Thanks Ted. I'm following up with authors as you suggest. The flexibility of NEURON to use different gating equations is powerful. I and certain that you recognize the dangers, though, of complete structural flexibility as it affects sharing models and communicating. My fear (having done it myself) ...

Re: How to implement temperature dependent rates

Thanks, Ted. Yes, there's a lot of literature to dig into. But your answer confirmed what I'm seeing in the literature: the temperature difference is mostly dealt with using Q10, if at all, probably for the reasons you mention.

Re: (1/1+Boltzmann)^4 parameters: a secret decoder ring?

Bump. The short question is: how are Boltzman-related equations pertaining to channel open probabilities typically expressed in Neuron? A: As the APPARENT Vhalf - that is, the voltage at which (1/(1-exp((V-Vs)/k)))^4 is 0.5, or... B: As the LITERAL parameter Vs that you stuff in the equation above (...

Re: How to implement temperature dependent rates

This is a side topic, but given that the HH gating is dominated by Boltzmann-related forms, and the Boltzmann equation does depend upon temperature, should there be a temperature effect not only on the final tau values one gets, but also on the steady-state values (minf, hinf...). Also, does the tem...

(1/1+Boltzmann)^4 parameters: a secret decoder ring?

All, Hi, first post. I've been digging into potassium channel kinetics, specifically trying to match Choi and Waxman 2011. It SHOULD be rather straightforward. For example, the gating given for K-A channel is n*h and the authors give an equation for steady-state "n" of: Eq 1. ninf = (1/(1+...
