64-bit versus 32-bit processors

Does anyone have experience running NEURON on a 64-bit processor within a windows environment?
I currently have NEURON running on Windows XP with a Pentium 4 3.0gHz processor and 1GB RAM. I'm looking to jump to a 64-bit processor and I would like to know:
1) will NEURON run of a Win based 64-bit machine
2) what performance increase (if any) can I expect assuming that I also support the processor with adequate resources.
Any information/tips would be greatly appreciated.
