Saving and reading files

Different simulations sometimes use the same names for files types that are not identical.

Eg weight files have the extension .wgt but weight files for different simulations are not generally compatable.

If you load a weight file from a different simulation you will generate an error and possibly a crash.

It may be useful to create subdirectories (folders) for different simulations or use names that make it obvious which simulation they come from.

Most of the simulation file formats are ascii and can be edited. They have to be edited very carefully however, since the read routines do very little error checking.

Some simulation file formats are in binary and cannot be edited. These have to be changed by saving new ones from the appropriate simulation exercise.

color coding

The standard color order is shown on the brush and color window which can be accessed using the right pulldown menu from any graph. The order of colors is as follows: black, red, blue, green, orange, brown, violet, yellow.
